April 2009: Carrier-Colo B5/Colo2 - 200 m2 more colocation space

From now on, additional 200 square meters colocation space are available in Carrier-Colo B5/Colo2
The new colocation space is equal to the existing CarrierColo standard parameters:
- Early fire detection and -supression with non-toxic extinguishing system
- Separate UPS for A- and B-Feed
- Diesel generators
- 1 kWatt power and HVAC per square meter
- At least N+1 redundancy for all climatisation system components

March 2009: Carrier-Colo renews green electricity contract

The existing contract for pure green power from 100% renewable energy sources was renewed by IPB/CarrierColo and is running until 12/2010 now.

January 2009: Carrier-Colo is reducing CO2 with new free cooling capacity
|
 |
Establishing a new free cooling system IPB/CarrierColo continues progressive implementation of the high efficient energy saving concepts. Using only cold environment air from only 10 degrees Celsius outside air temperature the new free cooling register carries 290 kWatts from the data centers into the air without using compressors.
That reduces power demand for climatisation of the data centers, is saving energy and has a CO2 reducing effect, saving the environment.
All together this is another step in the integrated concept of CO2 reduction and energy efficiency in the Carrier-Colo data centers, together with the usage of 100% green energy coming only from regenerative sources.

The internet exchange point BCIX e.V. (Berlin Commercial Internet Exchange) signed a contract with IPB GmbH, operator of Carrier-Colo. IPB provides a full rack to BCIX for the second BCIX-location in Berlin.

An additional carrier is available now at Carrier-Colo. You can get access to the nation wide network of formerly "Carrier1" directly over our MeetMePoint, now. Operator is "GLH GmbH", located in Munich (contact through Carrier-Colo). Lützowstr. has been equipped with a 72 fibre cable.

One of the three QSC central network nodes is located in Lützowstr. and is now accessible through Carrier-Colo's MeetMePoint.

With DNS:NET an additional multiservice carrier is offering services in Carrier-Colo.

Carrier-Colo is operating a third data center in Lützowstr. now, designed for backup and redundancy purposes. The data center "B3" has some differences to the already running "B2":

April 2006: Carrier-Colo wins new customer: IBM
|

Carrier-Colo is happy to announce that IBM will operate a fully redundant platform in our data center.
For this project, an additional data center will go online in Lützowstr. and it will be completely independant from already running colo "B2". An ideal solution for redundant and backup operations.
As prime contractor, IPB will operate a third location within Berlin for longtime backups.

December 2005: RZ-Flächen der Carrier-Colo is expanding!

The "traditional" carrier-based data center in 1st floor just has
been extended in the 2nd floor.
There are 340 square meters (approx. 3.660 square feet) brand new data center with strong
air conditioning and AC power supply. This new data center segment is great for server
housing and high power density. Take a look:

November 2005: ITDZ Berlin / BRAIN scientific network with new, own fiber in Carrier-Colo available!

A new cabling, realized by ITDZ Berlin, is another sign for the quality and growth of Carrier-Colo's activities in Berlin, Lützowstr. data center facilities.
Berlin-/Brandenburg's scientific network "BRAIN" now is connected directly to the Carrier-Colo data center.

Oktober 2005: GasLINE/EON.Ruhrgas DarkFibre now available in Carrier-Colo!

A new fibre connection has been established. It is possible now to built long haul dark fibre links over GasLINE / EON.Ruhrgas directly.
This is a very important corroboration of Carrier-Colo's eastern Europe orientation. Carriers and network operators are far more flexible, now. |
